The Bowl Chair Co. don’t sell chairs. They sell design statements.

 

Built around the iconic 1960s silhouette, their uniquely quirky chairs are a focal point for modern living spaces. Our challenge was to take this heritage product and build a contemporary brand identity around it, capturing its retro charm while positioning it for serious commercial growth in a modern market.

 

Here’s how we created a visual identity that positions The Bowl Chair Co. as a premium contemporary brand, balancing professional elegance with quirky appeal.

Strategic heritage

 

The brand concept draws on the deep-rooted history of the Bowl Chair, re-imagining the brand to feel both modern and timeless with true artistic flair. The goal was to ensure the entire customer brand experience feels undeniably premium, allowing the product to command its rightful position in the market.

 

To achieve this, we crafted a wordmark that combines two distinct classifications of typography. This strikes a deliberate balance between rich 1960s heritage and sharp, modern market appeal.

Ownable visual assets

 

As for the new brand marque, we knew the brand needed something completely ownable. Inspired by the iconic silhouette of the Bowl Chair, the brand marque is designed to be a highly versatile and instantly recognisable visual asset.

 

This distinctive shape acts as an ownable background, a container for lifestyle imagery, or a seamless brand pattern that scales effortlessly across packaging and digital platforms. We paired this with a bold colour palette taken directly from the product range itself, reinforcing the whole offering while ensuring the brand stands out in a crowded interior design market.

Craftsmanship

 

For the art direction, we kept the imagery styling intentionally minimal, forcing the chair to remain the undisputed hero of every shot. This clean, editorial aesthetic is paired with hyper-detailed close-ups of the craftsmanship, visually reinforcing the exceptional quality and justifying the premium nature of the product.

Confident messaging

 

To tie the visual identity together, we developed a concise and witty tone of voice built around the product’s core ’round’ characteristic. This effortless, confident wordplay makes the brand feel highly accessible while retaining its sharp, design-led edge.
