Personalities of a design studio.
Standing around the kitchen island, the Studio had a buzz of energy the other day as several members of our team discussed their results from the 16Personalities personality test. This got us thinking about how personality serves the various roles that make up our team.
The diversity of workplace personalities that come together often results in an eclectic mix of ideas, perspectives, and approaches, each adding a new layer of depth to the design process. These individual traits not only define our Studio’s culture but also influence the final work in ways that may not always be immediately obvious, but are certainly felt.
Our team turned out to be a mix of Analysts, Sentinels, and Diplomats. Here are some of their personalities and what they had to say about them.
Architect (INTJ)
Known for their rationality, impartiality, and intellectual excellence, our resident Analyst is Full-Stack Developer Arthur. An Architect (INTJ), those who have this personality type are said to be tacticians with a deep-seated thirst for knowledge and self-improvement.
“Interesting. For me, web development is definitely all about strategy. I enjoy solving complex problems, not just for the sake of it, but to create efficient and scalable systems built to last. I don’t just want things to work, I want them to work efficiently and with clean, maintainable code. Taking something chaotic and refining it into a seamless, well-engineered solution is very satisfying.
And I can see the need to learn, as well. I actually taught myself how to code from scratch, and with tech moving so fast, I’m always looking at how to improve what we do and eliminate inefficiencies. Essentially coding is about building something that works efficiently, logically, and seamlessly, which just makes sense to me.”

Defender (ISFJ)
We have a few different Sentinels, who are known for their practicality and focus on order, security, and stability. First up is Stephanie, our Head of Marketing, who is a Defender (ISFJ). Those with this personality are said to be dedicated protectors, efficient, responsible, and attentive to the practical details in their daily lives.
“As soon as I read my result as an ISFJ, I was like, ‘Yep, that’s totally me!’ I love connection and marketing is the perfect place for that, what with understanding people, building trust, and crafting messages that really resonate. I’m constantly thinking about how we can help brands connect with their audience on a personal level and create something that genuinely speaks to them.
And I’m a stickler for details. There’s no such thing as ‘good enough.’ I’m all about getting things right. This is so important when maintaining consistency across platforms, making everything cohesive and credible. Our brands want to build trust with their audiences and I take that responsibility seriously.
I also really enjoy being the glue that holds the team together. I love supporting others and helping my team feel valued and confident in their work. Whether that’s offering advice or just being there when they need me, I try to be the steady hand that keeps everyone on track.
And honestly, it’s so rewarding to see how my personality and approach help bring success to our clients!”

Executive (ESTJ)
An Executive (ESTJ) personality type, our next Sentinel is Arwyn, our Business Development Specialist with a background in graphic, web, and motion design. Known to be excellent organisers and great at managing both things and people, Executives offer solid direction that brings people together.
“I’m definitely a planner. Structure, organisation, clear goals—I like creating and sticking to plans, so business development is a great role for that. And I’m very focused on outcomes, delivering practical, measurable impact and what’s going to drive growth.
This does involve taking the lead and making decisions, co-ordinating teams both internally and externally. It’s great to have everyone aligned and working to the same goal, so yeah I can see how my personality result fits in with the role.”
Mediator (INFP)
The last category of personality types is Diplomats, known for their empathy, diplomatic skills, and passionate idealism, and our UX designer Dan has the Mediator sub-personality. Poetic, kind, and altruistic, Mediators are keen to help a good cause and take a caring and creative approach to everything they do.
“So I’ve always believed that design should be more than just functional, and when designing, I do focus on how people feel when they interact with a product. That emotional connection drives everything I create, and I do empathise with the users, putting myself in their shoes. What do they need? What might frustrate them? How can I make their experience feel seamless?
And problem solving is up there, exploring different ideas to push possibilities and find new solutions that make digital experiences better. I want to make experiences, not just interfaces.”

Advocate (INFJ)
Senior Brand Designer Lotte is an Advocate (INFJ) through and through. Quiet visionaries, they often serve as inspiring and tireless idealists who want to stand up and make a difference, approaching life with thoughtfulness and imagination.
“This is me. I have very strong values and love having a purpose, and brand design lets me use my creativity in meaningful ways. It’s all very intentional. It’s about telling a story, creating an experience, and connecting with people. I want the designs to resonate with others, to make them feel something, whether that’s trust, excitement, or understanding.
It says that INFJs tend to be idealistic, and I guess I do carry that idealism into my design work, always striving for something more meaningful. Something that goes deeper than surface level. I want the brands we work with to have a soul, a story that goes beyond the logo, something that people can truly believe in and connect with.
As a senior, I do also try and create a space where the whole team can come together. I might enjoy my time working solo, but I also love when the vision of the entire team aligns. We create something that’s greater than the sum of its parts.”

Protagonists (ENFJ)
Next up are our Protagonists (ENFJ), which make up a third of the team and span all three departments of brand, web, and marketing. Protagonists are said to be inspiring optimists, taking action to do what they feel is right. They love helping others, strive to have a positive impact on the world around them, and have a creative energy to achieve their goals. Here’s what Lewis, Beth, and Saz all had to say.
- Lewis, Full-Stack Developer
“On checking over the results, I can see the connection. While a website might seem highly technical, it’s more than just a collection of code. It’s a way to connect with users, anticipate their needs, and make their lives easier, more enjoyable, and more engaging.
Apparently ENFJs are natural visionaries. The best part of the job is transforming a concept into something real, functional, and user-friendly. It has to feel intuitive, smooth, and purposeful. This often involves collaboration and I do enjoy working closely with designers and other developers to make sure everything aligns.
I do care about the impact of my work. I’m not just coding for the sake of coding. I’m building something that will serve people, help businesses grow, and deliver meaningful digital experiences. This is a very fulfilling role for me.”
- Beth, Digital Marketing Strategist
“I feel so seen! This personality type is definitely me. I’ve always been all about connection, storytelling, and the bigger picture, and digital marketing brings all of that. It goes deeper than just selling, it’s about creating real, genuine relationships between brands and people, and while analysing audience insights or brainstorming strategies, my brain’s buzzing with ways to engage and inspire.
One of my absolute favorite things about this job is bringing people together. We’re apparently natural communicators and I do love figuring out strategies that make an audience feel seen, heard, and excited to engage. I’m here to build strategies that don’t just get clicks but actually make a difference, that people feel. And I do like to bring the energy! Whatever we’re doing, I’m all in.”
- Saz, Brand Designer
“That’s me! I do love a good aesthetic, but design isn’t just about making things look pretty. It’s about storytelling, emotion, and connection.
And I definitely relate to seeing the bigger picture while obsessing over the details. I’m constantly thinking about how everything—colour, typography, messaging, even the space between elements—works together to communicate the very soul of a brand. I want to make people feel something when they interact with a brand, like it’s welcoming them into a world they want to be part of.
And like the other ENFJs, I love collaborating. I’m constantly bouncing ideas around and love the energy when our team works toward a shared vision. But at the same time, I do appreciate those deep-focus moments where I can totally immerse myself in a design. Balancing both is my happy place.
I want my work to move people, to inspire action, and to help brands show up in the world in a way that’s bold, meaningful, and real.”
