Wrekin College & Old Hall.

Champions for every single one of their students, the Old Hall School and Wrekin College promote academic excellence while supporting individual growth and opportunities for discovery. Dedicated to preparing their students for life, this Telford institution was looking to create an online home that would encourage more learners to join them.

Branding that connects & differentiates

We began with the foundations, creating a digital style guide to assist in building a unified brand grounded in the schools’ core values. The reason for this being that brand is the very heart of a school’s online presence and growth. When consistent across all digital touchpoints, this is what inspires the trust and emotional connection that drives enrollment.

The unique challenge with Wrekin College and Old Hall was that they’re two connected institutions with completely different audiences. The strategy behind their brand architecture therefore required using core integral branding elements to tie the two schools together. We then added more playful elements to The Old Hall brand, specifically to allow them to resonate more with their younger audience.

Shaping an engaging digital experience

We then applied these branding foundations across two new websites, engineering a digital journey to reduce friction between discovery and enquiry. Designed especially to support student recruitment, they seamlessly link to iSAMS, a leading school management information system, and RSAdmissions. In line with their core values, they also link to GCSEPod to encourage individual student growth and discovery.

Following their digital style guides, Wrekin College and The Old Hall School now have two separate websites that appeal to learners of different age groups, while remaining connected through core branding elements. By aligning digital UX with audience-focused branding, they directly improved engagement with prospective families for long-term enrolment performance.

Looking to reconnect with your students?

Institutions with strong heritage often underperform digitally. Not because of awareness, but because their websites aren’t structured around user intent. Improving admissions performance requires treating the website as a whole recruitment system, not a digital brochure.

Our Shrewsbury-based web design and digital marketing agency specialises in the educational sector. Check out what we did for Moreton Hall and the Holroyd Theatre, or get in touch to talk about your project.
